Edit your board's navigation

Header and footer links, ordering, and per-item visibility.

Written by Traian

The Navigation screen controls the links in your board's header (the bar across the top of every page) and footer (the links at the bottom). Each link can be shown to everyone, or only to signed-out visitors, job seekers or employers.

Open the Navigation screen

  1. In the sidebar, open Design and click Navigation.

  2. You will see two cards: Header ("The links across the top of your board.") and Footer ("The links at the bottom of every page.").

The Navigation screen listing the default header links such as Jobs, Companies, Blog and Talent

Start customizing

A new board runs on the default navigation: header links such as Jobs, Companies, Blog, Talent, plus Job seekers and Employers sign-in links shown only to signed-out visitors, and a Post a job button; the footer carries links like Job alerts, Privacy and Terms. While you are on the defaults, the lists are read-only and a banner at the top says "You're using the default navigation".

  1. Click Customize navigation in the banner.

  2. You will see a "Navigation is now yours to edit" toast. Your current links are copied into an editable list ("Your current links are kept"), the banner disappears, and every row gains a drag handle, an Edit button and a delete icon. From here on, the navigation is fully yours: future easyboard default changes will not touch it.

Add a link

  1. In the Header or Footer card, click Add link.

  2. Fill in Label: the text visitors see, for example "Pricing".

  3. Fill in URL: either a path on your own board (for example /pricing, /blog, or /p/about-us for a custom page) or a full external address starting with https://. For safety, only board paths and http(s) URLs are ever rendered; anything else is stored but not shown.

  4. Under Who can see this?, pick Everyone, Signed-out visitors, Job seekers or Employers (see below).

  5. Under Style, pick Link for a plain text link or Button to render it as a filled call-to-action button, the usual choice for "Post a job" in the header.

  6. Turn on Open in a new tab if the destination is external and you want visitors to keep your board open.

  7. Click Add link. You will see a "Link added" toast and the row appears at the end of the list.

Reorder, edit and delete

  • Reorder: drag a row by its grip handle. The new order is saved as you drop and matches how links render left to right in the header and in the footer.

  • Edit: click Edit on a row to change any field inline, then Save ("Link updated").

  • Delete: click the trash icon ("Link deleted"). There is no confirmation dialog, but re-adding a link takes seconds.

Changes apply to your live board immediately; there is no draft or publish step on this screen.

Per-link visibility

Visibility is what lets one menu serve three audiences:

  • Everyone: always shown. The default.

  • Signed-out visitors: shown only to people who are not signed in. Use it for "Sign in" and "Create account" links that would be noise for logged-in users.

  • Job seekers: shown only to signed-in candidates, for example a link to saved jobs.

  • Employers: shown only to signed-in employers, for example a link to their dashboard.

Rows with restricted visibility show a small badge (such as "Signed-out visitors") in the list so you can see the audience at a glance; a Button-styled row shows a "Button" badge.

Troubleshooting: a link is not showing

  • Check the visibility. The most common cause: the link is set to Signed-out visitors and you are viewing the board while signed in (or the reverse). Open the board in a private browser window to see the signed-out view.

  • Check the URL scheme. Only board paths (starting with / or #) and http(s) addresses are rendered. A URL with any other scheme is kept in your list but never shown to visitors.

  • Check which card it is in. Header and Footer are separate lists; a link added to the wrong card renders in the wrong place, not nowhere, so scroll the page.

Tips

  • Keep the header to five or six links; move secondary destinations (legal pages, job alerts) to the footer.

  • Exactly one header item styled as a Button reads as your primary call to action. Two buttons compete.

  • Themes draw the same link data their own way, so your navigation survives a theme switch untouched.

  • The header's overall look (height, background, logo position, stickiness) is set on the Appearance page, not here: see Brand colors, fonts, and appearance tokens.
