Every board gets a free address of the form your-name.myeasyjobboard.com. You picked the first part (the subdomain) during signup, but it is not set in stone: you can rename it whenever you like from the Domain page. This guide shows the exact flow and what to check before you do it.
Before you rename: what changes
Renaming the subdomain is instant, and that cuts both ways:
Every public URL changes immediately. The board home, every job page, your blog, feeds, and widget embeds all move to the new address the moment you save.
The old address stops working. There is no automatic redirect from the old subdomain to the new one, and the old name becomes free for any other board to claim. Links you have already shared, and pages Google has indexed, will break.
Only admins can do it. Teammates with the Member role cannot change the address.
Because of this, rename early, ideally before you share the board or submit it to Google. If the board is already established and you want a better address, attaching a custom domain is usually the smarter move because the free subdomain keeps working alongside it; see Connect a custom domain.
Rename your subdomain
Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then open the Domain card (described as "Your free subdomain and custom domain").
On the Domain page, find the Board address card. It shows your current address in large text, with a copy icon and an open-in-new-tab icon beside it.
In the Change subdomain field below, type the new name. The field is framed by a fixed https:// prefix and the board domain suffix, so you only type the part in the middle.
Wait a moment. As you type, the text under the field changes from Checking availability... to a verdict (see the next section).
When the verdict reads Available, click Save address. The button stays disabled until the name you typed is confirmed available, so you can never save a name that will fail.
On success you get a "Board address updated" confirmation, and the Board address card at the top of the page immediately shows the new address. Click the open icon next to it to see your board live at its new home.
Understand the availability messages
The line under the field tells you exactly where you stand:
This is your current address. You have not changed anything (or typed your existing name back in).
Checking availability... The live check is running; give it a second.
Available. Free to take; the Save address button lights up.
Taken. Use name-2 instead. Another board owns that name. The message offers the nearest free variant as a one-click suggestion; clicking it fills the field for you.
A validation message. The name breaks a formatting rule (see below).
A valid subdomain must:
be between 3 and 63 characters long,
use only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, with no leading or trailing hyphen,
not be a reserved word. Names that collide with platform infrastructure or common conventions (such as www, app, api, admin, mail, blog, help, support, status, and a few dozen similar) are blocked with "That subdomain is reserved. Pick another."
Uppercase letters and surrounding spaces are forgiven: the field lowercases and trims what you type before checking it.
After you save
A quick checklist so nothing points at the dead address:
Update links you control: your company site, email signatures, social profiles.
If you embedded the jobs widget or shared export feed URLs, regenerate or update those snippets; they include the host.
If you use the Google indexing integration or have submitted the board to Search Console, re-verify under the new address.
Good to know
Your free address never goes away. Even after you attach a custom domain, the subdomain keeps serving your board, exactly as the card says: "Always available, even after you attach a custom domain."
Someone grabbed the name you wanted? The suggestion is always the closest free variant (name-2, name-3, and so on), but you can keep trying names manually; the live check answers within a second.
Renaming does not touch your data. Jobs, employers, candidates, theme, and settings are all unaffected; only the host in your URLs changes.
