New workspaces ship with starter content so your board is not empty on day one: example jobs from fictional employers (Harbor & Vine and friends), example candidates, and a ready-made job taxonomy. It exists to be looked at, then deleted. This guide shows what the sample data covers, how the one-click cleanup works, and exactly what is kept.
What counts as sample data
Six kinds of records are seeded, and each is flagged as sample:
Jobs: the example openings on your board,
Candidates: example job-seeker profiles,
Employers: the fictional companies, with logos,
Job types (full-time, part-time, and so on),
Categories, with their icons,
Tags.
In the admin lists (under Recruiting and Content in the sidebar), every such row carries a Sample badge, so you can always tell starter content from your own.
The one rule: editing a sample makes it yours
The moment you edit a sample row and save it, its Sample badge disappears and easyboard treats it as your own data from then on. That row will survive the cleanup. This is by design, and it gives you two valid ways to start:
Start fresh: post your own jobs, then delete all samples. Simplest and most common.
Adopt what is useful: the seeded job types, categories, and tags are a sensible taxonomy. Edit the ones you want to keep (even a trivial edit counts), then run the cleanup to clear the rest. If you would rather build your own taxonomy, see Job types and categories.
Remove it all in one click
There are two ways in; they end at the same card:
Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then open the General card. Scroll down to the Sample data card. (From the dashboard setup checklist, clicking Remove samples jumps you straight to this card and highlights it with a colored ring.)
The card lists what is currently loaded, with live counts per type, for example: 5 jobs, 4 candidates, 4 employers, and so on. Only sample-flagged rows are counted.
Click the red Remove sample data button. If the button is grayed out, there is nothing left to remove.
A dialog titled Remove all sample data? restates the exact count and breakdown, and warns: your own edited or created entries are kept, and there is no undo. Click Remove sample data to confirm.
You will see a confirmation with the number of items deleted, and the card switches to its done state: "No sample data left - this workspace is running on your own data." The Remove the sample data step on the dashboard checklist checks itself off at the same time.
What exactly gets deleted, and what is kept
Deleted: every row still flagged as sample, across all six types, plus their stored files (employer logos, candidate photos, category icons). This is permanent; there is no undo and no trash bin.
Kept: everything you created yourself, and everything you edited (editing cleared the flag).
Kept for safety: any sample employer, job type, or category that one of your own kept jobs still points at. Deleting it would blank out that field on your job, so instead easyboard silently un-flags it and keeps it. Example: you posted a real job under the sample employer Harbor & Vine, then ran the cleanup. Harbor & Vine survives, without its Sample badge, because your job needs it. Rename or edit it afterwards to make it truly yours.
Tips
Do this before sharing your board. Sample jobs are visibly fictional; a visitor who applies to one is not a great first impression.
Order does not matter. You can post your first real job before or after the cleanup; the two checklist steps are tracked independently.
Not deleting one by one is the point. You could delete samples from each list page individually, but the Sample data card clears all six types in one pass, in an order that never breaks references. Use it.
The counts are live. If you have already deleted some samples by hand, the card reflects the remainder; when everything is gone the button disables itself.
Expect an emptier board right after cleanup. If you ran the cleanup before posting anything of your own, the public board will show no jobs until your first real posting is published. Click View public board in the top bar to check how it looks, then head to Post and manage jobs to fill it.
