Moderate job listings

A review queue and rules that keep quality and trust high.

Written by Traian

Once employers can post to your board and imports run on a schedule, quality control matters. Moderation puts jobs you did not write yourself into a review queue where you approve or reject each one before it goes live. Jobs you post from the dashboard are never held.

Choose your approval policy

  1. In the sidebar, click Settings (at the bottom), then open General.

  2. Find the Job approval card.

  3. Pick an Approval method:

    • No approval: jobs go live automatically (the default).

    • Require approval for all employer & imported jobs.

    • Require approval for free jobs only (paid go live): a paid posting has already cleared a bar; free ones wait for you.

    • Require approval for each employer's first job only: vet each company once, then trust them.

  4. Click Save changes. A toast confirms "Job approval setting saved".

Under any policy except "No approval", affected jobs get the Pending review status instead of publishing, and wait in the queue. Imported jobs count as free jobs, so "all" and "free only" both hold them.

Review the queue

  1. In the sidebar, open Recruiting, then under Jobs click Moderation.

  2. Each pending job shows as a card with its title, company and location. Click the title to open the full job in the editor (in a new tab) when the summary is not enough to judge.

  3. Click Approve or Reject.

When the queue is empty you see "Nothing to review". New submissions appear here on their own; there is nothing to configure on this page itself.

What approve and reject do

  • Approve publishes the job immediately: it goes live on your board with a fresh publish date, and easyboard requests Google indexing for the new page. You see a "Job approved & published" toast.

  • Reject archives the job. It never appears on the board, but it is not deleted: you can find it in the Jobs list under the Archived status filter, edit it, and publish later if the employer fixes it.

For employer-submitted jobs, easyboard emails the employer's contact address about the decision, so you do not have to notify them by hand. Imported jobs have no contact and simply skip the email.

Where moderation fits with imports

Import sources have their own Publish imported jobs immediately switch (see Import jobs automatically). The two combine like this:

  • Approval policy covers imports: they always land in the Moderation queue, regardless of the source switch.

  • Approval off, source switch on: imports publish straight away.

  • Approval off, source switch off: imports land as plain Drafts in the Jobs list, which is a softer review flow you drive from there (drafts do not show in the Moderation queue).

Tips for a trustworthy board

  • Pending jobs are also visible in the main Jobs list: open the status filter and pick Pending review. Use that view when you want the full table (search, sort, dates) rather than the card queue.

  • Combine moderation with import keyword filters and Skip rules, so obvious junk never even reaches the queue and moderation stays fast.

  • "First job only" is the sweet spot for most boards taking employer submissions: full control where the risk is, zero friction for proven companies.

  • Approving publishes instantly, which also fires job alert emails and webhooks for the job, exactly as if you had published it yourself.

  • You can always unpublish later: use Mark as filled, Archive or Delete from the Jobs list.
