Most boards make money from employers, but some niches (exclusive listings, curated remote roles, senior communities) can charge the job seekers instead, or at least require an account. easyboard handles this with one access-level setting plus job-seeker products. This guide covers both, and the middle path of gating only selected "premium" listings.
Three access levels
The access level decides what an anonymous visitor can do on your board:
Open: no restrictions (the default). Everything is public; job seekers browse freely.
Require login: gated surfaces require a free job-seeker account. You collect an audience (emails, profiles) without charging. See Candidate accounts for what an account includes.
Paywall: require membership: gated surfaces require an active paid membership, sold on your candidate pricing page.
Change the access level
In the sidebar, open Monetization and click Job seekers.
Open the Access level dropdown and choose Open: no restrictions, Require login, or Paywall: require membership. A helper line under the field describes the selected mode.
Click Save changes. You'll see an "Access settings saved" confirmation.
Choose what to gate
When you pick Require login or Paywall, a "What to gate" section appears with three switches. Gating never hides the job list itself; visitors always see that jobs exist, which is what makes them sign up or subscribe.
Full job details: listings stay public, but the full posting (description and apply) is gated.
Applying to jobs: require access to apply, for on-board applications (marked coming soon in the form).
Profiles directory: require access to browse the candidate profiles directory (also marked coming soon).
Turn on the combination you want, then click Save changes.
Gate only premium listings
You don't have to gate everything. The form itself suggests the hybrid model: leave Full job details off, and mark individual jobs as premium instead.
Set the access level to Require login or Paywall, with Full job details switched off.
Open a job for editing (see Post and manage jobs) and turn on the Premium (gated) listing switch. Its description says it exactly: when job-seeker access is set to require login or membership, this listing is gated even if others are open.
Save the job.
Now the bulk of your board stays open to everyone, while your best listings are the signup or membership hook.
Sell memberships and passes
The paywall needs something to sell. Job-seeker products are created on the same Products page as employer ones, with the audience flipped:
In the sidebar, open Monetization, click Products, then Add product.
Name it (for example "Monthly Membership") and set Audience to Job seekers. The form swaps the employer perk cards for a Job-seeker perks card.
Choose a Pricing model: Subscription with a Billing interval for an auto-renewing membership, or One-off purchase for a time-limited pass.
Turn on Unlock paywalled content. This is the switch that makes the product actually open your gated surfaces (job details, applying, the profiles directory) for its buyer.
For a one-off pass, set Access duration (days), for example 30. Blank means the access never expires. Subscriptions don't need this; access lasts while the subscription is active.
Optionally add perks that also work without a paywall: Featured profile (boosts the buyer's profile in the candidate directory) and Priority applications (flags the buyer's applications to employers).
Click Create product.
You should now see the product on the Products page under the Job seekers group. Note that featured-profile and priority-application products are worth selling even on a fully open board; the paywall is only one use of job-seeker products.
Where job seekers buy
Job-seeker products are sold at /account/pricing on your board (buying requires being signed in to a candidate account, so the purchase attaches to the right person). The page has its own on/off switch: at the bottom of the sidebar click Settings, open Payment platform, and use the Job seekers card under Pricing pages. Purchases appear in Orders, and recurring memberships show in the Job seekers section of the Subscriptions page (see Employer subscriptions and packages for how that table works). As with all paid products, nothing can be bought until Stripe is connected: Connect Stripe to get paid.
