Connect Stripe to get paid

Your own Stripe account receives every sale directly.

Written by Traian

Before anyone can pay you on your board, you connect a Stripe account. It is your account: charges are made on it, payouts go from it to your bank, and you keep 100% of the revenue. easyboard adds no platform fee on top (your easyboard plan is billed separately, see Your easyboard subscription). This guide walks through the whole Payment platform page.

Why you need this first

Paid products can only be purchased through your connected Stripe account. Until onboarding is complete, the Products page shows an amber warning ("Payments aren't set up. Connect Stripe so employers can be charged. Until then, paid products won't be purchasable.") and on your public pricing page the buy button on paid products reads Checkout unavailable. Free products still work without Stripe.

Open the Payment platform page

  1. At the bottom of the sidebar, click Settings.

  2. In the Settings hub, open the Payment platform card ("Connect Stripe to collect payments").

You can also get here through the Configure payments link in the warning banner on the Products page. The page has three sections: Stripe Connect, Billing settings, and Pricing pages.

Connect your Stripe account

  1. In the Stripe Connect card, click Connect to Stripe.

  2. Your browser is sent to Stripe's secure hosted onboarding. If you already have a Stripe account, sign in and reuse its details; nothing needs re-entering. If not, Stripe walks you through creating one (business details, bank account for payouts, identity verification).

  3. Finish the flow (or save and exit partway). Stripe returns you to the Payment platform page.

You should now see the Stripe Connect card showing your account, with a badge in the top right: Active (green) once charges are enabled, or Pending while onboarding is unfinished.

Read your connection status

Once connected, the card lists four facts about the account:

  • Account: your Stripe account ID (starts with "acct_").

  • Charges: "Charges enabled" means Stripe will accept payments. This is the one that actually gates selling.

  • Payouts: "Payouts enabled" means Stripe can send money to your bank.

  • Onboarding: "Details submitted" means you completed the Stripe forms.

If onboarding is incomplete you'll see a notice ("Onboarding isn't finished yet") with a Continue Stripe onboarding button that resumes exactly where you left off. If Stripe later needs more information (this happens as your volume grows), a "Stripe is asking for more information" box lists the outstanding items. Use the Open in Stripe dashboard link to resolve anything on Stripe's side.

Set your billing settings

Below the Stripe card, the Billing settings card controls how buyers are charged and what shows on their receipts:

  1. Currency: the default currency you charge employers in. Search and pick from the list (for example "USD - US Dollar"). New products default to this too, though each product can set its own currency.

  2. Default billing country: the country preselected for buyers at checkout.

  3. Additional receipt information: free text that appears on every receipt and invoice buyers get. Put your legal business name, address, and VAT number here. Leaving it empty is fine; receipts simply show no extra block.

  4. Click Save changes. A "Billing settings saved" confirmation appears.

Turn your pricing pages on or off

The Pricing pages section lists the two public storefronts, each with its live URL and a switch:

  • Employers: job-posting packages and upgrades, sold at /pricing on your board.

  • Job seekers: memberships, passes, and profile boosts, sold at /account/pricing.

Each card shows Live or Hidden (returns 404). Toggle a switch and you get an immediate "Pricing page enabled" or "Pricing page disabled" confirmation. Keep a page hidden until you have products ready for that audience.

Troubleshooting

  • The badge says Pending. Charges aren't enabled yet. Click Continue Stripe onboarding and complete the remaining steps; the most common gap is bank details or identity verification.

  • Products still show "Checkout unavailable". Check the Stripe Connect card: selling requires "Charges enabled", not just "Details submitted".

  • Wrong account connected. Use Forget this account in the Stripe Connect card to detach, then connect the right one.

  • Next steps. With Stripe active, create your first products (Sell job postings and upgrades), configure tax if you need to collect it, and watch sales arrive in Orders.
